Sssh...shy wetland creatures are livelier in the evening! Fingers crossed, we’ll hear a few kinds of frogs call in their distinctive ways, especially the Growling Grass Frog, known for its surprising growling sound.
At this free event you will learn to recognise different frog calls and which frogs live in this area; how to use the Melbourne Water Frog Census app to collect important frog population and species data; and learn more about the threatened Growling Grass Frog. There will be a presentation and some walking.
Bookings essential: HERE
This is suited to ages 12 years and above.
What to bring: drinking water, hat, mobile phone with Frog census app downloaded (optional), sturdy walking shoes, long sleeves, long pants, wet weather gear (if rain forecast). Please don't attend if you're not feeling well.
(Frogs love rain so don’t be put off by a rainy evening, this event will still go ahead. Likewise if it is hot evening, GGF’s love that weather so the event will still go ahead.)
Supported by Merri-bek City Council and Melbourne Water.
